LOAK2-TX01 and LOAK2-TX02 have been newly renewed as ROXA-TX01 and ROXA-TX02, respectively. In this renewal, we have kept the basic sound character of the former models while revising the housing material and shape.
The former LOAK2-TX series used pure titanium for the body housing. However, since 3D printing with pure titanium is no longer available, it became difficult to continue producing them with the same specifications as before.
Because of this, discontinuing the models was becoming the most likely option. However, LOAK2-TX01 / TX02 are models that clearly express the power and energy of a dynamic driver, and personally, I felt it would be a shame to simply end them here.
So, we decided to redesign them using 64 titanium as an alternative material, while also adopting the more comfortable ROXA-shaped housing.
From the LOAK2-TX Series to the ROXA-TX Series
The main changes in this renewal are the following two points:
・The body housing has been changed from pure titanium to 64 titanium.
・The housing shape has been changed from the LOAK type to the ROXA type.
With the new ROXA shape, the fit has improved quite significantly.
When actually wearing them, I feel that they sit more naturally in the ear and offer better stability than the former LOAK2 type.
The change in housing material to 64 titanium has also brought a slight difference to the sound.
The basic sound direction has not changed greatly from the former LOAK2-TX01 / TX02.
However, 64 titanium gives a harder impression than the pure titanium used in the former models, and because of this, the outline of the sound tends to come through a little more clearly.
In addition, the improved stability of the ROXA-shaped housing helps reduce sound instability, resulting in a sound that feels more focused.
That said, a harder housing can sometimes make the sound too hard or too clear. To avoid this, I adjusted the tuning, including the filters inside the front nozzle, so that the overall balance remains as close as possible to the former models.
For this reason, the difference from the former models is not large.
These should be seen as renewed models based on the sound of the former LOAK2-TX01 / TX02, with a slightly more focused presentation thanks to the ROXA housing and 64 titanium structure.
About ROXA-TX01 / TX02
ROXA-TX01 / TX02 are both models that let you enjoy the power and energy of a dynamic driver.
Their sound direction is slightly different from that of the upper model ROXA-T1000, which pursues high resolution and delicate expression. TX01 / TX02 have a rougher, more energetic appeal. Rather than a sound that is too clean and perfectly refined, they offer a slightly wild character, allowing you to enjoy impact, crispness, and the raw, lively feel that only a dynamic driver can deliver.
TX01 and TX02 share a similar sound direction, but TX01 is tuned for a brighter and crisper sound, while TX02 is tuned for a thicker and more powerful sound.
Is it necessary to upgrade from the former LOAK2-TX01 / TX02?
For those who already own the former LOAK2-TX01 / TX02, I do not think it is necessary to upgrade solely for sound quality.
There is a difference in sound, but it is not a major change. It is a subtle difference caused by the changes in material and housing shape. If you like the sound of the former models, you can continue using them without any problem.
However, the new ROXA shape offers a significantly improved fit. If the fit of the former LOAK2 type did not work perfectly for you, or if you are looking for a more stable fit, upgrading to ROXA-TX01 / TX02 may be a good option.
In terms of sound quality, the renewed ROXA-TX series is also worth trying for those who want a more focused sound with less instability, made possible by the harder housing material and the improved fit, which helps reduce unwanted vibration.
