This is the LOAK2-TX01 made with Enju wood, a material sourced from Hokkaido, where I live. In terms of hardness and density, it falls into the medium range among the woods handled by 634EARS, but this particular piece feels quite hard when being carved.
The sound of the TX01 made with Enju wood is clearer than I expected. Judging by the sound characteristics, I believe this specific piece of Enju follows the “hardness > density” trend. Its tone is bright and crisp, similar to Padauk, but without the same boldness—it has a slightly more subdued and balanced feel, with a bit more emphasis on the low end.
When woods with the “hardness > density” trait, such as Snakewood or African Padauk, are used for the TX01, the high notes tend to be bright, and the overall sound is smart, spacious, and somewhat solid. In contrast, this Enju wood adds more body to the low end and softens the attack of the sound. Still, compared to more common woods like Rosewood, the sound is relatively crisp.
This is the first time I’ve used this wood for this model, and I’m quite impressed. I think it has a well-balanced sound, and I’d like to use it more in the future. There is only one available, but since it’s a finished product, it can be shipped within one week after the order is confirmed.
