Two types of LOAK2 models using brass. Normally, the front housing made of titanium is replaced with brass, and the backplate is also made of brass. The backplate is polished to a mirror finish before being given a semi-matte texture. The body of each model is made with different materials: TX04 uses 3D-printed titanium, while BSB is made of stainless steel.
Each model is tuned differently from the standard versions, so I’ll explain each separately.
1) LOAK2-TX04(Brass)
This model is based on the LOAK2-TX01, with the same driver tuning as TX01. However, brass tends to produce a thicker, more powerful sound, resulting in a tone closer to that of the TX02. As brass typically imparts a heavier, deeper sound, the tonal balance is shifted lower than both TX01 and TX02, creating a weighty, robust audio experience. While the highs are bright, the ultra-highs are more restrained than those in TX01 or TX02. The backplate uses double the usual amount of high-resilience material that we use for metal backplates, resulting in a very rich low end. The sound outline is thick yet well-rounded, providing a cohesive overall sound. Unlike the BSB model below, TX04’s tuning gives it a fatter but gentler sound. Since the sound is distinct from TX01, TX02, and TX03, this model is named TX04.
2) LOAK2-BSB
This model is based on the LOAK2-TS(CL), but the brass front housing gives it a fuller, more powerful sound. As with the TX04, the backplate incorporates twice the amount of high-resilience material as standard metal backplates, resulting in a rich low end. Compared to the TX04, this model has a tighter, more impactful sound with a stronger attack, while still maintaining a broad tone for impressive audio. Additionally, it has a softer, more rounded sound than the standard TS(CL).
As these are brass models, a bit of care is needed; it’s recommended to remove the ear tips when not in use, as brass is prone to corrosion if ear tips are left on. (Any rust can be removed with proper care.)
There is a steady fan base for brass models and their unique sound, with many requests for brass editions. However, because brass requires careful handling, it hasn’t been a standard offering recently. This time, though, we decided to create a few models as part of an experimental production. There’s something truly distinctive about that brass gold color.
