This is a Limited Edition MIROAK-II that is not part of the regular lineup. It’s a variation of the “Japan Limited Model (Padauk)” sold through a distributor as a Japan-exclusive model, but made with a different type of wood. Unlike the standard MIROAK-II, this model features stainless steel parts on the wooden backplate, which enhances the durability of the resin body. This particular unit is crafted using Cocobolo wood.
For this Cocobolo version, we’ve processed a rare section of the wood where the heartwood and sapwood are interwoven. The sapwood (the lighter-colored part) is more prominent in terms of the overall volume, but the heartwood (the darker brown part) occupies more of the surface area. The striking contrast between the brown, light brown, and black lines gives this Cocobolo a truly eye-catching appearance.
In terms of sound, the tuning is the same as the MIROAK-II Japan Limited Model (Padauk), but this Cocobolo version delivers a richer sound with a stronger mid-to-low range and a thicker tone. It also produces more bass than the Padauk model, and the overall sound signature has a slightly lower center of gravity.
As for the differences compared to the standard MIROAK-II, there are quite a few. The standard MIROAK-II offers a tighter and more enclosed sound, while the Limited Edition (Japan Limited Model) provides a thicker, softer sound with better mid-to-high range clarity.
