LOAK2-TX01 with Hawaiian Koa Wood
This model uses Hawaiian koa, an acacia species native to the Hawaiian Islands. Within that species, this particular piece features a rare “curly” grain pattern. Its hardness and density are in the mid-range among the woods handled by 634EARS, roughly on par with mahogany. This specific piece is well-dried and feels slightly on the harder side.

I’d describe the LOAK2-TX01 made with this Hawaiian koa as having a warm overall tone. You can still sense the TX01’s characteristic sharpness, but the sound is generally mild and very “woody.” The attack is somewhat dry, offering a pleasing sense of openness rather than being purely mellow or soft. The bass is moderately strong without being overly heavy, retaining a bit of bounce and lightness.

In my opinion, the sound is reminiscent of Granadillo but slightly drier and more open. Hawaiian koa is very rare, and high-quality pieces—or those with curly figuring—can be extremely expensive. If you’re interested in Hawaiian koa, consider yourself lucky if we have it in stock at the time of ordering. Please feel free to inquire via email or DM on social media to check availability.
