This is the LOAK2-TX01 made with Purpleheart wood. When first processed, this wood is brown, but exposure to ultraviolet light and air turns it a vibrant purple. We exposed it to outdoor air on a sunny day to achieve a beautiful purple hue before coating it.
Although it’s a very hard wood, the density can vary between pieces. This wood piece has a medium density. On the 634EARS wood list, it is one of the few woods where the “hardness > density” ratio applies.
The sound is tight with clear contours. It has a similar tonal character to the Snakewood version of the LOAK2-TX01, but it feels a bit more relaxed than Snakewood. The bass doesn’t swell as much, resulting in a sharp, attack-focused sound. The overall tone is neutral, neither warm nor cool.
