TENORA Ezo cherry (エゾヤマザクラ)
Front : Aluminum (semi-matte black anodized finish)
Body : PLA resin (3D printed), partially stainless steel.
Rear : Wood(Ezo cherry)
This TENORA model features Ezo cherry wood (native to Hokkaido, Japan) for its rear housing backplate. In particular, this piece of Ezo cherry shows a striking greenish hue, making it quite rare. Among the woods handled by 634EARS, it’s considered relatively soft.
When paired with TENORA, this Ezo cherry delivers very rich bass. It produces more bass than harder woods. The sound leans slightly warm, and its edges are rounded. Since TENORA inherently has a slim mid-to-high range, even with a softer wood that tends to thicken the sound, it maintains a smart, well-defined contour. Essentially, the bass is full, while the mid-to-high range remains slim.
Because softer, lower-density woods don’t thicken the mid-to-high range on the TENORA as much, they may be easier to work with compared to other models.
I actually made this TENORA for my personal use. Since I currently live in Hokkaido, I chose a wood native to this region. I’m not a fan of sharp peaks in the high frequencies, overly hard timbre, or piercing edges, so the Ezo cherry TENORA aligns very well with my preferences. Although the bass is plentiful, the small driver doesn’t produce overly strong sound pressure, so it doesn’t feel fatiguing despite the generous low end. I think this is a key difference compared to models like the MIROAK-II.
