Here’s a comparison of several different examples of TENORA.
This time, the models feature Cocobolo, Pink Ivory, Sharkwood (Beefwood), Stabilized Wood, and Brazilian Tulipwood.
Cocobolo, Pink Ivory, and Tulipwood have similar hardness and density. Stabilized Wood has comparable hardness but higher density. Sharkwood is slightly lower in both hardness and density compared to the other four.
In general, the harder the wood, the sharper and clearer the sound becomes; the softer the wood, the warmer and milder the sound tends to be. However, harder woods are also more prone to producing sharper treble, while softer woods tend to round off the edges of the sound slightly.
When the hardness is relatively similar, as in these examples, the differences in sound with TENORA are not very large. Therefore, I recommend choosing based on the appearance of the wood. All five types introduced here have very distinctive and beautiful grain patterns.
