A Smaller, Refined Design – The Intent Behind It
The ROXA-S100 features a newly designed backplate that’s slightly smaller in diameter and less than half the thickness of previous models like the MIROAK and LOAK series.
This change was made for two main reasons:
First, to achieve a more natural and comfortable fit in the ear.
And second, to ensure that no matter which wood you choose, the overall sound character of the ROXA-S100 remains consistent and balanced.
The rear housing (backplate) sits right behind the dynamic driver—an important structural component that influences how the diaphragm moves. By slightly reducing the volume of wood, the influence of each material is moderated, helping to maintain stability and consistency across different wood types.
In other words, rather than eliminating the differences between woods, the goal was to design a structure where every wood type still sounds “like ROXA-S100.”
At the same time, one of 634EARS’ defining features—the ability to customize and choose your preferred wood—remains unchanged. With the sonic differences now more subtle, you can freely select a backplate based on appearance, grain pattern, or personal preference without worrying about compromising the sound.

Subtle but Distinct Differences in Sound
For the ROXA-S100, four types of wood were used to create prototypes: Honduras Rosewood, Snakewood, Amboyna Burl (Karin-Knob), and Black Persimmon (Kurokaki).
Among them, the most sonically distinctive was Snakewood.
Snakewood is one of the hardest materials handled by 634EARS, delivering tight, fast, and well-defined sound with excellent attack.
In contrast, Amboyna Burl, Black Persimmon, and Honduras Rosewood share a more similar tonal character. When compared side by side, their differences are subtle—refined rather than obvious.
Camphor Burl and Black Persimmon produce a slightly softer sound with a gentle edge and a bit more body in the low end.
Honduras Rosewood, meanwhile, sits comfortably in between—balanced, warm, and articulate.

Choosing the Right Wood for You
The differences between woods in the ROXA-S100 are delicate but meaningful.
This design allows you to choose with confidence—whether you prioritize aesthetics, grain, or tonal nuance.
Unlike previous models where the wood choice could significantly alter the sound, the ROXA-S100 encourages a more relaxed approach:
Choose the wood you love, and the sound will follow.
Of course, if you’re the type who enjoys fine-tuning the details, you can refer to the 634EARS wood reference chart to select based on hardness or density and achieve subtle adjustments to the sound.
The ROXA-S100 is designed not for “picking a sound,” but for choosing your favorite wood freely—while keeping the signature balance and warmth of 634EARS intact.
Each piece of wood is unique—formed by nature, with its own grain and resonance.
That individuality makes your ROXA-S100 truly one of a kind.
Enjoy the harmony between wood and sound—crafted just for you.
