Introducing a New Step-by-Step Made-to-Order System
For the ROXA-S100, we’ve introduced a new step-by-step made-to-order production system, rather than traditional continuous sales.
The first batch (1st lot) will consist of 30 units, produced only according to received orders. Depending on demand and feedback, we may continue with a 2nd or 3rd lot, but production may also end after the first or second batch.
Why We Chose This Method
In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to consistently procure metal and electronic components used in earphone manufacturing at stable prices and quality.
Suppliers frequently change, prices fluctuate, and there is no guarantee that the same parts can be sourced again.
Additionally, global economic conditions, the weak yen, rising tariffs, and labor shortages have caused raw material and shipping costs to increase.
As a result, maintaining “the same product at the same price and quality anytime” has become very challenging.
For now, our current models — LOAK2-TX01, LOAK2-TX02, and TENORA — will remain available under the existing order system. However, TENORA will be discontinued once current stock runs out due to the end of driver production, and the TX01/TX02 models may also face future uncertainty in terms of ongoing production.
The Decision to Produce in Small, Reliable Batches
Given these conditions, we decided that producing in small, controlled batches was the best way to maintain consistent quality.
By manufacturing a fixed number of units per lot, we can:
- Ensure consistent build quality
- Maintain cost control
- Avoid excess inventory
This allows us to keep prices accessible while still maintaining the distinctive 634EARS sound and craftsmanship.
However, it’s important to note that due to this approach, some lots (e.g., after the 1st) may not be produced again depending on component availability.
Balancing Cost and Quality
While this new approach means we must operate under a limited-production model, it also allows us to purchase only the exact quantity of components we need — which helps reduce costs.
As a result, ROXA-S100 is offered at an affordable price of 28,900 JPY, while still delivering high-end sound performance.
Furthermore, shipping is free for the 1st lot.
To optimize efficiency, the production data and parts procurement flow are designed so that components for each batch are fabricated and assembled in one coordinated process.
Closing Thoughts
This step-by-step production system does mean that customers may not always be able to purchase the product exactly when they want it.
That’s a trade-off we accept — it may even reduce short-term sales.
However, it ensures that we can continue to offer our products at a fair price without compromising quality.
The ROXA-S100 uses a combination of stainless steel and high-precision resin housings, which may appear to be a step below our flagship materials like titanium.
However, in actual sound performance, it stands impressively close to our higher-end models.
While titanium still excels in speed, precision, and resonance richness, ROXA-S100 achieves excellent balance, natural warmth, and clarity, surpassing the previous MIROAK-II by a wide margin — all while keeping the price significantly lower.
