Development Story: Sound Direction and the Dynamic Driver

One of the most important elements in the development of the ROXA-S100 is its dynamic driver.
At the heart of every earphone’s sound lies the driver itself—and the front housing that supports it.
The balance and relationship between these two components ultimately define the earphone’s sonic character.

Why I Continued Using the Same Driver

During the development of new models, I’ve tested many different drivers and diaphragms.
Of course, using a completely different dynamic driver can easily create a model with a “different sound.”
Even with the same housing design, simply swapping the driver can produce a wide variety of sonic results.
However, I always found myself asking—is that difference actually better?

Many of the drivers I tested weren’t bad at all; they could deliver what I’d call a solid 70-point sound.
But very few could surpass the potential of the driver used in MIROAK-II and LOAK2.

Refinement Over Novelty

So instead of forcing a new sound by changing the driver,
I decided to take the opposite approach—
to refine and evolve the driver I already knew so well.

The beauty of this driver lies in its versatility.
It can deliver a bold, analog-style sound with rich body,
or a delicate, modern, and precise presentation—depending on the tuning.
And because I’ve worked with this driver for so long,
I understand its strengths, its limits, and exactly how to bring out its best performance.

From MIROAK-II to ROXA-S100

While the ROXA-S100 uses the same driver as MIROAK-II,
its tuning has been completely re-engineered.
As a result, it offers a more refined and sophisticated sound—
delicate and clear, with slightly smoother highs for comfortable, long listening sessions.

Despite its lower price point, the ROXA-S100 actually feels more polished and mature in tone than MIROAK-II.
It’s not a cost-down version—it’s the result of continued evolution and refinement.

The Meaning of “Not Changing”

The sound of the ROXA-S100 exists because I chose not to change the driver.
Instead of chasing new specifications, I focused on deepening what already worked—
like polishing a familiar material until it reveals its full beauty.

ROXA-S100 represents that philosophy:
a sound born not from reinvention, but from refinement.
I hope you’ll hear that evolution for yourself.
