Here’s a comparison of several different examples of TENORA.
This time, the models feature Buckeye Burl, Cuban Mahogany, Olive Wood, Yezo Spruce.
Among these, Kalimantan Ebony is the hardest wood. Olive Wood and Cuban Mahogany are of medium hardness, while Yezo Spruce and Buckeye Burl are soft. Buckeye Burl, in particular, is quite fragile, so it has been reinforced with wood hardener, but due to its low density, it remains relatively soft.
In general, the harder the wood, the sharper and clearer the sound tends to be, while softer woods produce warmer and milder tones. However, harder woods also tend to produce sharper highs, whereas softer woods give slightly rounder and less defined contours.
If the woods have similar hardness, the sound differences in TENORA are not significant, so it is best to choose based on the wood’s appearance.
Although the differences are subtle, Kalimantan Ebony and Cuban Mahogany tend to produce tighter and more defined sounds, while Olive Wood, Yezo Spruce, and Buckeye Burl have softer tones. Olive Wood, despite being a softer wood, produces solid low frequencies with a lower center of gravity, while Yezo Spruce and Buckeye Burl deliver lighter, more airy sounds.
